Sometimes,,

sometimes, love means saying the hard words. saying things like -“he is not the one for you” or “you need to stop calling him every time you miss him.” you need to let them know that you don’t support their every decision, even though you’re with them.

sometimes, love means being there for them. it’s 3 am and they text you. you just know that they had a bad day. you tell them, can’t do much, but i can listen to you. i’m here.” and that’s enough.

sometimes, love means going that extra mile. you stay up and help them with their assignment. it’s you waiting for them for another hour after your classes are over. it’s you missing your station to drop them home safely. it’s you driving at a speed of 40 kms per hour when they are sitting behind you on the scootey.

sometimes, love means understanding each other. you finish each other’s sentences and you know their every habit – how they bite their nails when they are overthinking. how they pout when you two have a disagreement. it’s knowing their flaws and loving them, anyway.

sometimes, love means tiny little things. the way you laugh at their bad jokes. or maybe quoting movie lines and listening to the songs together.

sometimes, love means giving up love. you two have loved each other, but people grow up, they change. and when it happens, you no longer like each other. you can’t tolerate the things you once loved.

and that’s what it means to love someone – you’ve to let them go when the time comes.
